Boiler Installation

Combination Boilers.

What is a combi boiler?

’Combi’ is short for combination boiler. This type of boiler heats water as you draw it from the tap and provides central heating. It doesn’t need a cold water feed and expansion tank or a hot water storage cylinder because the boiler is connected directly to the water mains, meaning it only heats water as and when it is needed. As you only have the combi boiler unit in this heating system, it can free up space for conversion, storage and living. Homes that need larger supplies of hot water are usually better suited to a system or open vent boiler with a hot water cylinder.

System Boilers.

What is a system boiler ?

A system boiler directly heats your central heating system and produces hot water for a storage cylinder. They work like a regular (conventional) boiler in that they need to store hot water, but unlike regular boilers they take their water supply directly from the mains. This makes them much more compact than regular boilers but still able to deliver a high volume of domestic hot water.

Regular Boilers.

Whats is a Regular boiler?

Regular boilers are the oldest type of boiler around, which is why they are also known as traditional or conventional boilers. Another name for them is heat only boilers, because they will produce hot water for a central heating system, but does not feed directly to that taps.

A regular boiler is fed cold water from a large tank which is stored in the attic and also requires a hot water storage cylinder to be able to provide hot water for daily use.
